Characteristics of Reclaimed Oak
We often get asked about the special characteristics that reclaimed oak has and why so few craftsmen dare to work with this material despite its stunning appearance and other virtues.
Reclaimed oak is a very special wood that requires a complicated and prolonged treatment process. This process includes cleaning, treatment with special solutions against insects and moths, removal of old nails, filling cracks and holes with epoxy resin and special putty.
The supply of this wood is limited and finding old beams suitable for furniture manufacturing requires time and effort. Furthermore, making furniture from reclaimed oak involves high waste, as almost 50% of the beam is discarded.
Reclaimed oak is an extremely dense wood and is much more resistant than new oak. It is hard to cut and undergoes mechanical processes like planing and sanding with difficulty.
The time dedicated to the manufacture of a reclaimed oak table can be several times greater than the time needed to manufacture a similar table from new oak.

Every Piece of Furniture is a Living History
The aging of wood is one of its many attractions. Some more marked veins, a darker color... when time passes, it leaves an aesthetic that shows beauty despite the wear of the material. The nail marks and the cracks of time will be the elements of an unrepeatable design.
Each furniture we produce carries a piece of the history of the house from which the beam was taken.
